Wedding Makeup Ideas and Looks

9 Jun

Your wedding is probably the most important day of your life. Every girl dreams of the kind of clothing they would wear, how their fiancé would look, and so on. But at times, among all the wedding tension and millions to-do, we tend to not give attention to the kind of Bridal makeup or hairdo for the D-day. Some would-be brides just book a wedding salon to take care of it for them. However, here we have given you some tips that would definitely make you look and feel on top of the world.

Time and season – Please do keep in mind that you would be the center of attraction for the photographer, and you need to look good. When you think about your attire and makeup, you first need to consider the time of the wedding as well as the season. For example, if you are getting married during summer, keep in mind that if you choose a shimmery look, the makeup might just run. Also, if you have long-running ceremonies, then you need something that will stay long and keep you looking fresh. If your ceremony is in the morning or night, the attire and makeup need to be according to the background lighting and environment.

These days ‘simple and classy’ is the look that most brides go with. This being said, you need to keep in mind that you are the bride, and you do need to stand out from the other women. Your makeup needs to be classy and, at the same time, bold so that you stand out.

Lips – Let’s take lips as an example. Depending on the color of your attire, you need to go with nude or bold color lipsticks. This is why the importance of a trial makeup run – wherein you can choose the colors and see how it suits your skin tone and attire. Do not skimp on the lip liner as that is what will make your lips pop and give it definition. As a thumb rule, a morning wedding in a bright light would go well with bold and matte lips. While on the contrary, a night function can go with nude colors but with shimmers. Maroon attires would go well with bright red lips, and blue attires usually go well with soft shades of pink. Of course, exceptions would be there, and you need to see if it suits your complexion.

Eyes – The eyes of a bride without question need to pop. And that means elaborate makeup. You need to do the works! Most Indian women have lovely large eyes, and the best way to compliment them is with – extravagant shadow, mascara, and eyeliner. Smokey eyes or gold colors are quite the ‘in’ thing these days.

Bindi/Sindoor/Tika – If you are going to sport a Bindi, it needs to once again match your attire. You can go for something elaborate and colorful. However, the trend these days is the traditional red, large and round one.

Pre-wedding preparation – To look good on your D-day, you need to start preparing ahead. That means keeping yourself calm and tension free. Unnecessary tension or stress can show up on your skin. Along with this, you need to ensure that you are well hydrated. Well-hydrated skin will glow too. Keep up with a healthy regime – cleanse well, exfoliate, keep yourself protected from harsh sun, moisturize well. You also should take care not to make any kind of changes in your regimen just before the wedding. Your skin might not take it well. You need to make a routine for yourself and follow it religiously at least a couple of months before the D-day. Also, pamper yourself with some wedding beauty tips and skin treatments – but do not keep it last minute.

We all know that Indian weddings and rituals can be pretty long. A bride needs to look fresh and pretty the whole day. Hence you need to ensure that one of your friends or relatives is close by to keep touching up your makeup whenever needed. You need to have a proper kit which should consist of blotting paper, lipsticks, shimmer or gloss, rouge, and eyeliner. A small touch up here or there should get you through the day.

You need to have a nice, long discussion with your stylist and decide on something that will suit you and will make your day special. You can always experiment and play around with colors and shades. This is where we reiterate the need to have a trial run. Never start something new on your D-day. At least you will get to see how that makeup suits you and can change your mind if you are not really feeling it. Also, keep in mind that you do not overdo it. You need to ensure that you accentuate your features, and that can be done with care and skillfully applied makeup. Hence choose your stylist carefully.
